RagingWire Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (RES), a premier data center infrastructure and managed services provider, has been awarded the Sacramento Sustainable Business Award from Sacramento County’s Business Environmental Resource Center.
RagingWire was selected for this award for achieving high levels of energy efficiency and implementing pollution prevention measures across many areas of their business. RagingWire has earned a Gold certification and is one of only 2 firms certified across all of the program’s 5 categories: Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention, Solid Waste Reduction, and Green Building.
“RagingWire is honored to receive the Sacramento Sustainable Business Award“, said George Macricostas, CEO and Vice Chairman of RagingWire and a board member of the Jane Goodall Institute. “One of our core values is social and environmental responsibility. From the inception of our design, we knew that investing up front in environmentally friendly measures was the right thing to do. Not only for the long term operational efficiency of our facility, but more importantly it will help us, our community, and continue to benefit our generations to come.”
A few of the highlights from RagingWire’s recycling efforts include: recycling 100% of cardboard (38,640 lbs) and 100% of steel, copper and aluminum from all construction activities, recycling 100% of lead acid batteries consisting of over 100,000 pounds of lead and donating the proceeds to the United States Wolf Refuge (an accredited non-profit, 501 (e)(3) canine sanctuary), and recycling over 2,000 lbs of electronic waste for both RagingWire and their clients, a free service they offer to their clients.
Some highlights from RagingWire’s efforts to reduce power consumption and environmental contamination include: improved power solutions that have saved over 4,000,000 kWh of electricity, which equates to a savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, implemented 2 chemical free water treatment systems which eliminated chemical usage and the amount of water discharged by 80%, increased cooling and chilled water plant operating efficiency which saved an additional 250,000 kWh of electricity per month.
“This truly is a win-win scenario for RagingWire, the community and our environment”, said Yatish Mishra, President and CTO of RagingWire. “A byproduct of our environmental conservation measures is that our business has become more cost efficient as well.”
