Stratascale expedites time-to-market for Microsoft SAAS developers

ISVs in Microsoft's Software + Services Incubation Center Program Leverage Efficiencies of IronScale's Unique Physical Environment

SACRAMENTO, CA—July 10, 2009

StrataScale, Inc., the only managed hosting company that provides an Instant Physical Infrastructure™ with cloud capabilities, today announced it has joined the Microsoft Software + Services Incubation Center Program. StrataScale's IronScale product is a fully automated managed hosting service that enables Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and other customers to build, manage, and scale entire physical server environments in minutes from a secure Web portal. ISVs wanting to adopt a software-as-service (SaaS) delivery model receive business and technical guidance, consulting services, and access to an established hosting channel through the Microsoft Software + Services Incubation Center Program.

"Only the best hosting services are part of the Software + Services Incubation Center," said Aziz Ben Malek, general manager for the Americas at Microsoft Corp. "The program is a result of the evolving software industry which reaches far beyond just bringing software to the browser, and hosting providers are imperative in order for ISVs to be successful in the new world of software plus services."

As a fully automated managed hosting service, IronScale delivers the efficiency and agility of virtualization within the secure framework of a non-shared bare metal server that enables ISVs and SaaS providers to quickly create the ideal development environment for their applications. Through IronScale, servers can be cloned instantly or networks switched dynamically to test applications in both a physical or virtual environment to ensure application performance. Additionally, providers can use IronScale's portal to move, promote, or repurpose servers easily across development, production, and go-to-market environments.

"Virtualization is an important technology trend, however 70 – 80 percent of companies are still operating their applications on physical servers. For ISVs to be able to test in both environments simultaneously, as well as repurpose those servers across product lifecycle stages creates an opportunity to accelerate time-to-market, optimize IT resources, and keep money in their pocket by not having to buy additional infrastructure," said Reed Smith, director of product management for StrataScale. "This allows developers to focus solely on bringing new applications to market, not on infrastructure management."

IronScale's easy-to-use Web interface gives ISV and SaaS providers direct control over their entire physical server infrastructure, including the ability to provision and manage physical and virtual servers, allocate storage, install Windows Server 2008/Hyper-V images, and configure network and security infrastructure. As the only solution to provide snapshot capabilities on physical servers, IronScale can instantly capture and restore a server's boot volume to a given point in time. Providers can also create custom gold images to clone entire physical servers, as well as utilize auto-failover to eliminate server downtime. SaaS vendors in the Microsoft Software + Services Incubation Center Program can then repurpose servers or reload operating systems and applications to quickly return to initial builds. When ready for production, IronScale seamlessly promotes images or entire servers from development to test to production in real-time.
